This week was nice. Lincoln and I worked only a few days and then we played and had fun at home. He has become quite independent! He will play in his room for so long that I have to literally drag him out of there! Often he is chatting away to himself and carrying on a conversation with Mister Bear...he has become very attached with his beloved bear. He lets us know EXACTLY what he needs or wants. Our little guy is... shall I say... VERY demanding! He shreeks and points at what he wants and throws fits now...he gets pretty vicious!! He has taken to hitting, pinching, screaming, and throwing stuff. When he doesn't get his way - WATCH OUT!!! We think that this little attitude is just a small look at what we have to expect when he starts walking and talking! Philip and I are trying to nip it now before it gets worse. We pretty much ignore his bad behavior (or let him know that we don't approve) and overly praise him for his good behavior. Our little angel is growing up!!! How sad! He is also the "KING" of fake crying. He will fuss and scrunch up his face and give us a pitiful, sad, sob look (tear-free) while trying like heck to produce a single tear. Yeah...we aren't buying it! It's to the point that we don't even miss a cue - we go about with what we've been doing and ignore his valiant attempt to try to get us to jump at his EVERY whimper... Philip and I have vowed to be "those" parents. We don't want to spoil our children. We think that we should raise our kids the way we were raised. We were far from spoiled. We heard our share of the word "NO" and we want Lincoln to know that that word is also a part of his vocabulary... We believe that too many people these days give their child(ren) more than they need and it just creates spoiled, disrespectful kids. Don't get me wrong - we do somewhat spoil Lincoln, but, to a certain extent. He has all that he could ever need in the toy department - and then some! He is a happy and content boy that really doesn't even need or want to play with all that he has...He would choose to bang on a pot with a spoon or play fetch with Shelby over playing in his playroom anytime! On occasion he will sit and play with his Elmo table or Mater truck. Or a few of his favorite cars or balls. Lately, though, he is a fast-going concern and his curiosity runs wild...he is into EVERYTHING!!! I am just loving our mobile man! He is quite the character and I love being able to be here with him as he experiences his "firsts" or as he learns and understands how things work. Just the other day I was showing Lincoln how his Weebles can talk to each other and I was making voices for them - he then took them from me and tried to mimic me- it was the cutest thing ever! Also, today I almost cried, he was so adorable! He was in his seat at the table and had his sippy cup of water. He took Mister Bear and squeezed him giving him a BIG hug, then he gave him a huge open mouthed smooch, and THEN he tried to give Mister Bear a drink of water from his sippy cup! All of this happened while I washed dishes and he didn't know that I was watching. It was so sweet!
Today was a day of cleaning, for sure! I did SO much today! I cleaned the kitchen, the dreaded junk drawer, the living room, vacuumed and mopped, ripped out the carpet in the bathroom, (Philip is planning to work on the remodel this week), and during all of that I played with Linc! The upstairs looks nice and clean, so, tomorrow I plan to clean the downstairs and clean the mound of laundry that has been accumulating now for WAY too long!
Yesterday was a fun and eventful day! Lincoln and I went to the lake with Stephen and Nicole. It was Linc's first time on a boat and he really liked it. It was fun. We waded in the water and played fetch with Danny. (Stephen and Nicole's golden lab) Then we took a ride on the jet ski. Lincoln enjoyed himself and had a great time! After we left the lake we met up with Papa at home. He was getting ready to meet up with a friend and go dirt bike riding. He had SO much fun! Now he wants one! He was acting like a kid as he described how much fun he had and how he HAS to have a dirt bike! I will probably never hear the end of it, eh?!
On Sunday I went to my friend, Amanda's Bridal shower and this Sunday is my other friend, J's shower. She and her husband are leaving for Ethiopia in August to bring home their new daughter, "Helen". She turned 4 years old last month when they received her as their referral. I can't tell you what a doll she is! She is truly beautiful! I am looking forward to meeting her so much! This Sunday is the shower for her and I can't tell you what I am giving as my gift because J reads my blog!!! Grrrr!!!! Lincoln and I bought it a few weeks ago and it is too cute! I look forward to the shower...I just love getting together with a bunch of girls...it will be lots of fun!
Well, I will post pictures on Friday morning. I left my camera at work and I won't have it until late Thursday night because the family I nanny for will be on vacation until then...Actually, they will be home late Wednesday and I watch the kids on Thursday evening...Anyways, I will post pictures of last week on Friday! Until then, take care!
